There have been a few threads about the Flip-N-Fish by SportsMax. With an overall length of 44 inches, a width of 21 inches and a closed up height of around 10 inches, it can fit in almost any vehicle. And, mounted on an Otter sled with Hyfax runners, it should withstand a few treks across the frozen stuff.
Now, it's not perfect. The material is weathered and there are a couple of small holes. And it is narrow, bucket seat should work fine. But, at only $20, I couldn't resist. It will join the arsenal of unusual stuff I have. The three Frabill Ice Shuttles(one a rare black one) as well as some nice Bay de Noc Swedish Pimple Poles.
You can't take it with ya!

Thanks! Not that I really needed it, but for $20?! How could I pass it up!

Corndog very nice score on the Flip-N-Fish shelter the Hyfax runners on the sled look lightly used good additional shelter to have when out with younger children. Think I would get claustrophobic in a shelter that narrow.

No problem Dr.. I will snap a few pics in the morning and post them. I think that one was like 20 or 30 bucks. I only use one, the worst of the three, just because I have the room in my loft. And I too had never seen one in that color. Not prior to buying or since.

Thanks Steve..yeah, it is tight. And I'm not a short fella..but, I figure one of my buddies who is kinda small would fit in it fine, or..as mentioned..a kid. Pretty sure it could also be set up as a windbreak.

Oh, forgot to mention it weighs in at 11lbs!

Nice.never knew frabill made a ice shuttle in black, better looking than the yellow ones.
-
Yeah, never saw one until this, and have not seen another.
The other two I have are the yellow ones. One I had to do some work on the bottom, the one flaw with these Shuttles was the bottoms. The other yellow one is pretty clean.
-
Yes.i had to plastic weld the back two corners on both my ice shuttles, then i put skis that i cut down underneath them to protect the corners and it glides 100% better.
-
I did the same on the back corners of the one I use. The other two are pretty much mint.
The ski idea is a great one.

Sold my Flip-n-Fish in 2010 for
$75. Shoulda kept it. It was funny last time I used it the wind was like 40 mph and the thing was whipping so hard it was boxing my ears. funny stuff.
-
Slayerfish, thats funny! I figure the 20 bucks I spent was worth it. Im toying with the idea of making a replacement, insulated, tent for it.
-
It ain't much but works in a pinch.

I feel sorry for your kids :roflmao:
Myself and my brother have flat out told our Dad most of his hoard is going straight into a dumpster whenever he kicks off, because neither of us have the time or space, or desire to deal with it

my kid knows the value of stuff.shes a 14 year old picker too.some old stuff is worth more than others.perfect example is the old penn reels i bought for 5 to 10$ are now worth 50$.got 150 of them.same with old abu garcia round reels and ive got some rare limited editions.red Coleman 200a lanterns i paid 10$ for are fetching 80 to 100$.guess im a hoarder...but my collection will be worth money and dont pay retail on much of anything.
-
And yes i dumpster dive too.lol

Lol! I see what you mean!

I have a couple Pflueger 2800 reels with their boxes and everything that came with them. Years ago the owner of a bait shop offered to trade them for new Abu Garcia casting reels. A few years later the 2800s were selling for $215 on the bay auction. I have no idea what they are worth now.

I love my flip-n-fish so light sometimes use it to haul my gear sometimes I close it up even did a overnighter in it.
-
Awesome!
Such a great design. Especially if there is an adult who wants to introduce a youngster to ice fishing. Light enough for a youth to haul, gives them the feel of being on their own, and, plenty of room.
-
I agree it is a fantastic design. Add a foam pad for the floor. Carry it over sidewalks parking lots then load your gear. No worry when deep snow on ice it will ride up on top of it. I added 1 clam light on front of sled put the other two on a clam litehouse I just sold. Mine still looks like new and I've had it for many years.
-
great find!
i had a similar thing happen years ago. me and wife walked a garage sale and they had a very old fish trap. i walked on past it. wife said whats that, and i told her. she asked wasnt i interested? i said yes but i only have 20 bucks left. figuring it would be more ya know. she said its 5 bucks. lol not only that it had an old brass gaff in it. score! ;D i still use it today and love it for windy days. most time i dont flip up though.
cant beat those treasures the kids dont know they have. ;)

SCORE!!!
That's awesome!
