Poorman Scallops

This is for the adventurous.  It's a good novelty, tastes like scallops, goes great with beer and is a crowd pleaser on the ice.

Take the enlarged milt sacks(skeins?) from a fish that is getting ready to spawn. The sacks should be firm, if they are too far gone (soft) they will have an off taste.  Slice the sacks diagonally into half inch strips; dip them in milk or a beaten egg; roll them in bread or cracker crumbs; then fry them gently in margerine or oil over a low heat until golden brown on both sides. Eat to your hearts delight. Mmm ;D.

Note: Make sure you get your share before passing the plate around as it will dissapear before the plate gets back to you ;).
