Title: Makita XPH07 CHUCK REMOVAL
Post by: heyfly on Mar 03, 2015, 01:40 PM: Just got the drill from Amazon, no problem removing the screw but can't get the chuck off for the clam plate. Any ideas?

Post by: Idahogator on Mar 03, 2015, 01:51 PM: Give it a squirt of WD-40 where the screw came from, soft jaw the chuck and give it a sharp whop with the heal of your hand to loosen the chuck. ;)2

Post by: higbee on Mar 03, 2015, 07:08 PM: I've removed a few by inserting the largest allen wrench that will fit in chuck into the chuck. (insert the short side) Tighten the chuck and smack the long end of the allen wrench to loosen the chuck from the drill.

Post by: Seamonkey84 on Mar 03, 2015, 07:24 PM: My Milwaukee drill had a stubborn chuck, hitting the Allen wrench with a hammer didn't work for me, but putting a length of metal pipe on the wrench and levering it to turn the chuck got it loose for me. Oh, I also had to go out and find the 3/8 inch Allen wrench to do this with.

Glad you got it off but what "special tools" does Makita have available?
