I have seen new wire leader that you can tie like fishing line. Anyone used it on tip ups for northerns yet? How does it work and can you get it in really thin diameters?

I have tried the knot tying wire with many different knots. It makes great knots but the wire always kinks up which makes bait presentation very unnatural. 50 pound flouro is the way to go for pike especially on water that receives a lot of pressure.

Mackdaddy,

Take a look at this stuff. I wont use anything else. 35 lb test is like 8 lb mono diameter. Very hard to kink this stuff and it stretches like a shock absorber. Almost invisible in water. Check out my pic post under Ice fishing trip pics to see how this stuff performs. I have had fish break my 30 lb dacron braid but never one of these leaders. Click on the link.
