I can't think of another activity that has greater brand loyalty than ice fishing. Can you?? :icefish:

Yeah now that you point it out I'm definitely more loyal to my favorite ice fishing brands than I am with any other hobby.

I would say snowmobiles would have much more brand loyality than icefishing.
Granted I use mine for icefishing all the time.
Atv's might be a close second.

I generally don't PK take to that kind of PK marketing. I believe every brand PK stands on it's own merit PK.  I'd have to be an idiot PK to think some goofy marketing plan PK could sway me in that PK manner. Case closed!

You think the Flasher Wars are bad? Go on some of the archery forums and the brand non-sence is way worse!

People can get pretty heated over car and truck brands.

I definitely think some of guys on this site are just employees of the brands that they constantly promote.

As a former smoker I was pretty brand loyal.  I smoked camel lights and if I was smoking something different it meant I bummed it from someone lol  ;D  Beggers can't be choosers

I have brands that I stick with, but I have been at this long enough to test many other brands. Penn reels was a brand that I used for many years, but I dropped them like a hot rock when there quality went down. I use Shimano reels now, I have not found any other brand that holds up like them (at least for me and my clients that are tough on my gear) and if the quality drops, I will be searching again for another brand (hope not, I have not seen any other that have impressed me). With many other types of equipment, all I care about is that it does the job and does not cost me much money... As to sounders I use a Garmin, it does everything that the more expensive "flashers" do, but for half the money and is made very well, with great customer support. If I could afford it I would use Raymarine, it blows the sock off of almost everything else out there.
As to sounding like I am a rep, I come here to learn from others and to help others (have fun too!). So I am going to "Plug" the product that has worked for me. So as to brand loyalty, only as long as they are loyal to me.

Sports, snowmobiling, atvs, vehicles, beer, tools, everyone has a preference. I have brands I tend to choose over others in my hobbies and work cause sometimes buying that "new" brand backfires and your back to using what you were before. But with that being said I can't stop myself with trying new brands just to get my own opinion.

How dare you leave Sage off that list....  ;)

I do my best NOT to be brand loyal, but its kinda hard when you like something. When someone starts paying for my trips I will stay loyal, until then I like what I like.

I have lots of different brands in my collection from reels, to rods, to lures, to shelters, to augers, so I don't know about the brand loyalty in fishing. Now you want brand loyalty, die hard golfers they are nuts, from shoes to the last club in the bag all same brand.

I'm not brand loyal in fishing or golf. That being said, golfers are WAY more brand loyal/physco about their equipment...To me if you won't take a product that someone gives you for free...thats brand loyalty....Thats not me, I'll take free stuff all day.

I am extremely loyal to hanes tagless boxerbriefs, does that count? My wife made fun of my underwear for a very long time before I gave into what she wanted me to wear, this is one thing I'm glad I listened to her about.

I stopped being loyal to a brand when the wave of manufacturing leaving America went through. Now quality is what drives my urge to buy (or build myself).

I might have missed it, but almost everyone who smokes is loyal to their brand.

I know I try to be loyal to company's who support the things I do, but in today's economy, it's tough to be loyal when your pinching pennies to get by.

Brand loyalty is in large part the justification for one's decisions.  While each of our decision making factors might be different, we nonetheless want to express why we picked brand X.

this is true , and i guess that's why some of my stuff is several years old , or maybe it is because i take care of it , that's a big question isn't  ;)
