Drats, you guys in Western Montana work so hard to put that on. Who would have thought that the first day of February would not have adequate ice coverage to have the clinic. I'm praying for cold from Central Montana if for no other reason so the kiddo's can get out and get a taste of ice fishing. Maybe one or two will get hooked. Pun intended!!!!!

Maybe this will load. My grandson had a blast on Frenchtown the day before the scheduled clinic. He learned how to read the flasher by saying, "there's a rainbow by my bait". Kids learn so fast. Gramps enjoyed it as much as him. Hope to have him on the Hi-Line before too long.

Gonna check the ice tomorrow Matt, then call FWP to see what they are thinking. Lows in the teens Tuesday, Wednesday,Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I have a feeling tomorrows ice may be very different from Sundays Ice.

I checked ice Tuesday and it was considerably better than 2.01.20 and it's single digits out there right now. I called FWP and they agreed that ice was in better condition and that we have some ice making weather between Tuesday and this Sunday so we are checking tonight at 5 pm. I'm thinking they will green light us but not 100% certain until it happens (obviously) as soon as we are done I will post here and will need as many people as possible to post on whatever platform/page/group/organization they have access to, to try to get the word out again if we can fish. Short notice for everyone is rough ..

Hoping for the green light from central Montana. What you guys are trying to do over there is spectacular. As I told my oldest brother and he completely agreed last night, there is definitely a generation gap when it comes to those folks that are ice fishing. Need to get a new group "hooked" pun intended. It is a lot of these youngsters folks that are that missing generation.

well, doesn't that news just suck, but as others have said, it needs to be a positive experience for the kids in order to hopefully get them into it. Better to be safe than have any regrets especially when it comes to doing it on a frozen sheet of water which for folks that have never ventured far from the south defies all logic in their minds. Have had the opportunity to get to know a few die hard southern folks over the years and they think we are flat out nuts to go fishing on the ice!!!!

Lets hope for a better outcome next year.

Appreciate all of the efforts put in by the folks in western montana that work so hard to try to pull this event off.

It's not bad Matt, just enough to keep the ice from growing to what FWP was looking for. It may even be froze By now
