Panhadle and Sandhills Ice conditions
« on: Dec 12, 2013, 04:06 PM »
Anglers should use extreme caution while fishing the new ice especially where snows were heavier.  Ice conditions are fishable on most water bodies but can vary drastically on any given lake.  Smith Lake in Sheridian County has 5 to 7 inches in most spots but has many small areas scattered through out the lake with less than 3 inches of ice on them.  Do not assume any ice is safe and test the ice often as you approach a lake.  For updated ice conditions in the Panhandle contact the Alliance Game and Parks Office at 308-763-2940.  We will try to get out and monitor the ice as the weather changes.
