Arctic armor question?
« on: Dec 12, 2010, 09:56 AM »
I know alot of you guys have Arctic Armor and I recently just bought one, just wondering what to wear underneath it? It seems very light compared to what I used to wear(3 layers of clothes and wool). I usually icefish in very cold and windy areas(10 to 15 deg & windy)thanks ???

You still need to layer up under the suits. For me, I have a base layer of under armour, then a fleece layer (looser fitting long underwear). I then put on a standrard shirt and sweat pants. . Depending on the temps, you can layer up or down.

I wear a pair of longjohns under the bibs, a longjohn top and a chamois shirt under the jacket.  If it is really cold I'll put on a fleece vest.  That has proven to be enough for me on any given day for me.

Where a sponge. That will help soak up the condensation.

You're doing it wrong then, LOL. Had AA for 4 years and have yet to have a problem with condensation.

I must be cause even standing around hardly doing anything, it still condensates. Especially in the sleeves.

If I drill a hole or even walk out to my house, the jacket is practically soaked.

I hate mine and wanna get rid of it. They need to put in beefier zippers and add zip pits or breathable material. The sizing is kinda messed up too around the stomach area. Too big, while the rest of the jacket fits fine. I like the idea of the floatation but most guys dont go out on thin ice usually or should carry a chisel to check the ice if they do. I carry and use my chisel as an insurance policy.

Going with the new Frabill suit once I talk the wife into it.

Some people just sweat like crazy from the armpits.  ;D ;D I sweat like crazy from my feet. :roflmao: :roflmao:

I'll say that the suit is not designed for an athletic fit.  I sure look goofy with the belly/back of it sticking out like a girlly petticoat.  Some breathing zippers would be a wonderful add on.  The neoprene cuffs also traps moisture in the sleeves as well.  There are times that I would like to pull the sleeves up, but I can't.
