Ya'll are NUTS!  once they go through "the change" they don't taste anything like freshy's and the meat is a weird color...to each his own I guess..

Smoked came pretty good.... I have made salad with the smoked a couple of times and comes great. The best was the caviar, I found a recipe about how to cure the eggs and believe me,,, Those end awesome.. With cream cheese and crakers,,,

My baby girl and her first fish of the 11/12 hardwater season on 12/15/11

My baby boy on his 17th month birthday fishing for and catching his first fish on the ice.

And my baby girl with her first fish of the year on our 01/01/12 Canyon Ferry trip.

Very cool Jay! WOW she is growing up way too fast, she is about twice as big as when I saw you guys last. Don't you wish you could just make them spend a couple of extra years at that age sometimes? It always seems like it blows by faster than it should.

Man, now that's what it's all about. Had my grandson out for his first trip two days ago and we had a blast. Congrats on recognizing what's important and having the patience to do it.

Congrats HTech! Kids are great! To see them grow and grow to like the outdoors is a wonderful thing. I'm thankful for my dad dragging me out when I was a pup. I teaches more than you can find in any book.....

Thanks Kirkwood, some of my fondest memories as a kid in MN were ice fishing Lake Minnetonka and Mille Lacs with my dad and cousin. Now if ther were only more crappie, bluegill and walleye this side of the state. :)

Man, tell me about it. I could go 100 miles in all directions and still not get into any perch, walleye, or crappie. Oh well, just gotta make the most of it. Hope it gets colder though so at least CF is an option.

Mooter awesome pike! I had to do a double take because the guy not holding the pike could be the twin brother of a guy I served with in the Marines, the resemblance is uncanny.

Weird, the guy I know from the Corps lives in CO and doesn't fish so it can't be him but they could be twins looks wise.

Yep.. I did it.. But you need to cure those before.... It is a 180 degrees change in flavor... If you eat those fresh those are not good....

Folks,

I saw all your comments and I have an Idea running in my head by several weeks... specially with the kids. I have a 3 years old daughter and she loves fishing.. As you all must know that We have several groups as "Walleye forever", etc, etc..  What about if we can start a group named "Let's go Fishing with our kids" or "Fishing Kids", etc where the main goal is to keep the fishing tradition and knowledge here in Montana and promote quality time with kids and parents and meet other families that loves this great sport, create conscience on our fisheries, etc. Also, It will great to have meals between all the families, etc. It can be once a month and depending on the seasong we can take our kids to different places and teach different techniques (ice, Fly, spinner, etc)

What all you guys think?

I myself dont have any kids but i think your idea is a very good one there are so few kids that really want to take time away from games and tv and cell phones i would support the idea totally
