Smokey - Yeah was only able to make it to Peck for 2 full days but was able to pull the laker out in that time - lots of decent size fish but that was the best(it was brutally cold out there when I went too). The cat came from a secret spot tho.

rambo51 I have caught trout like that before.
I could be wrong but that looks like whirling disease.
If you cant ride it, drink it or bring home it to bed, it aint worth having!

Looks like whirling disease when it was young before its skeleton ossified. There is no known effect on humans from eating fish with whirling disease. That said I won't eat them simply because I don't want to find out ten years from now that there was a long term health risk from eating them that they don't know about now. According to what scientists know right now they say you should be safe eating it, your mileage may vary. Whatever you do don't put the fish parts left over after cleaning anywhere where the disease could get into a water source. e.g. don't put it down the garbage disposal instead throw it away in trash that goes to a landfill or burn it in your burn barrel or bury it. If you want to be a responsible fisherman anything you used that came into contact with water from that lake should be washed in a 1:5 solution of household bleach and water before you fish with it anywhere else to prevent the spread of the spores from one fishery to another. A single infected fish can have millions of spores.

In general, lake trout are highly resistant to Whirling disease.

Yep this one, if it has it, is only the second one I have ever seen in my whole life with it. They get it at something like 1% or less of the rate at which rainbows get it.

I wasn't targeting them but caught two somehow. I was actually pike fishing. I caught it on a jigging spoon made by PK Lures. I've caught five different species on it. They rock!

Those fish are from the weekend you passed on joining us  ;D ;) ;D.  The snow picture with the kids is from Spring Meadow Lake several weekends ago - we got dumped on!  The perch fishing you missed was a good time - we found a new spot on the lake but the 13" fish came from the same spot we fished last year.
