Anyone have a particular brand of quick snap they use? How about size? Seems silly to buy a pack of 6 for $3 when they are all over amazon for $9.99 for 100-150 of them…just not sure on quality.
-
I use these.....have 4 or 5 packs of them. I always grabbed a pkg at Fleet Farm, the small (trout) size.
On all my line ends, as I change jigs/lures after 20 mns if I don't get a bite. No complaints.

I do as well.

I bought some cheap Amazon ones a few years ago and they were so gapped that lures could pop out of the gap. The name brand ones seem to be formed better.
-
I've had so many issues with snaps I would never price shop them. Swivels too, cheap ones are worse than garbage. My preferred snap is the Rosco cross lock snap, but I've only found them online. In a store, I am ok with Gamakatsu snaps of the same style.
-
I've never had much luck with any of them. Most are too big for the 3 and 4mm jigs I use. I've resorted to just tying direct with a Palomar or Fisherman's knot.
-
I’ve been using mustad 77145 , for decades , come in 3 sizes , ,
-
Of all the different snaps I have tried the Spro prime snap is my choice.
-
Mustad or the Kipper snaps are my favorite. They sell out around here pretty quick, so I try to find them at the bait shops. Not sure on the size but I would say mostly the medium. These are only used when I need to switch jigs quickly. If I am needing to downsize, then its tied directly to the jig.

If you're fishing larger fish (like walleye, as your screen name implies), the very best true snap that I've found is a Decoy Egg Snap. That's the same snap as on the Jackhammer chatterbait (for bass). The BKK FCL Snap is very similar (maybe a copy), I know swimbait guys like them, too - but I haven't tried them myself.

Love the Fas Snaps, size depends on what lures you're using.
-
I have tried the Fas snaps but find them impossible to use with my big fat fingers. I find those similar to Decoy Egg Snap much easier to use.

Same here. Tough to use. I have to clamp 'em in a small hemostat while I thread the line thru.

My quick snap, no knot fas sanp, are all permanent snaps. Once I get a lure on, it's not really coming off. Cuz they're small and hard to work with especially with cold hands.
When I first started using them, I had notice an increase in loss of hook up. Well a small difference really but was still noticeable. I think the end sort of does a slight took hook and it prevents the hook point from doing it's job. Partially my hook set is too soft or rather it's only enough for when the hook point hits the lips. So I pinch the end to make a much more closed connection and thus it's much more permanent and less obstruction on the hook set. After all is said and done, it defeats the purpose of quick snap on off for me. Yeah, they're part of the lure now for me.

Just use pliers to close the gap ::)

I can manage to tie them on the line. Changing lures is what I have a prob with

Mustad Fastach Clips, best ones I've ever used. Multiple sizes and easy to change lures.
-
speak for yourself! ;D see comments above
-
The reason why mine have become crimped permanent is that the fish somehow managed to swindled a few lures and I got the quick snap back but no lure.
After I fixed that, no more mysterious vanished lures or missing fish. Now when they get hooked, they stayed hooked. ;D
-
I mainly use the No Knot fas snaps, crimp them down a bit, and use a hemostat or tiny needle nose to get lures on/off. Doing this they don't last as long, but the lures tend not to come off also, and I get to change lures a number of times before they break or weaken. I arry a number of rods pre-rigged so when I change it is more of gong up/down a size on the same lure, or change color on same lure.
-
I've tried to use them, but they're too small for my fat fingers
-
As mentioned above, cheap ones aren't closed all the way where you tie off so beware of great internet deals. Spending a little more for quality quick snaps will still end up being a lot cheaper than losing one good lip less crank bank.

Same. I usually fish 3 and 4mm tungsten and I can't reliably find a snap that works for those tiny holes.
