Chemong Lake (Kawarthas)
« on: Jan 17, 2010, 06:15 PM »
Sunday I got out on a new body of water..Chemong lake ( spelling?). First time it has been opening for ice fishing and as it is minutes from the inlaws I was able to get out for a few hours this morning.

The local bait shop put me on a spot, and since there was some permanent huts and some anglers around I though the adive was good...well, we covered this point from top to bottom, must have been about 200 yards norrht to south, and another 200 east to west, drilled alteast 50 holes and did not mark a single fish. It was killing me so i stopped to chat with some others on the ice as they where leaving, they where in the same boat, not a sniff and they put in an hour or so more then I did. tuff fishing

Good effort!!

There is a family fishing day on Chemong coming up in February
http://www.clearvieworganizing.com/22.html

Cam Brownson will be there and Minister of Natural Resources Donna Cansfield.
There will be a lot of prizes for the kids... a good event for people who don't normally
ice fish to introduce their kids to the sport as all gear is provided free.

My hat goes off to those who organize events such as this, on their own personal time.
