getting those jigs to glow...
« on: Nov 29, 2006, 09:41 AM »
Ive heard of a couple of ways to get those glow type jigs glowing, but what is best?  Ive never done this with my jigs, but this off season, i did buy a few(ok, maybe more than a few) jigs with some glow on them....

I bought one of the pen lights that are made for glow jigs.  Takes all of 3 seconds to get that thing glowing.

The best thing to use is an old camera flash.  Hit it 2 or 3 times with that and it will glow for a long time.  It also depends on the glow paint some glow longer than others.

I picked up a key chain at a convenience store for a couple bucks I think that has a flash light bulb just like those 10$ taszer lights like Lindy sells.  put it on my coat zipper  4 years ago though i broke the chain and now it rides in my coat pocket.  Still works and gets a good glow from my jigs

The flash will give you the best glow, but it it bigger and bulkier then the keychain.  I opted for the key chain and seem to replace it every season.

I also use one of those keychain lights. I bought a LED flexlight for the Vex this year and I assume that will do most of my glow charging from here on out.

The way they tell you to install it is to connect alligator clips to your charging posts on the Ultra Pack. No switch or anything ::)

I did some "creative" wiring so it wasn't so awkward, but I wish they put a switch on the light. Otherwise, it is a nice product. :)

I have a small keychain light that I use. It is an led, it  is giving off light in the ultraviolet spectrum. It seems to keep my jigs brighter longer than a normal led.
