Salmo Giant Chubby Darter

I have mentioned in some posts that I picked one of these 5-1/2" inch 3-1/2 Oz monsters and since then I have been getting a bunch of PMs and questions. I thought that I would post some info that might help those "Inquiring Minds"! The past few years I have been having phenomenal luck with the smaller sized Chubby Darters and for this season I have picked up a Giant! I look forward to using it on the ice for pike, lakers and maybe even some big bass. I also plan on using it for some open water lake trout. NO one in our area (that I know of) carries them and I ordered mine from Canada for about $23. including shipping. Some of IS sponsors may carry them and Salmo's web site sell them, for about $18 each. I also picked up a Clam Mackinaw Baitcast Rod (HD) and I also have a heavy duty St. Croix that should work, but is longer than I can use in my flip over... One of them should handle this "Giant". If there are pike in the water that I fish it, I will be using a short wire leader, other wise it will be a heavy Flouro leader...
I am sure that there are many angler on this site that have used this great looking lure and I look forward to any input any one wants to add!

mine came in the mail yesterday from salmo. they r big, keep them little walleye away so my trophy will have a chance lol. be trying mine out in 19 days n counting on lake of the woods

I've been watching some youtube vids on these too....I bought a couple Salmos to try out this week....a #3 and #4....hoping to pull in some bigger panfish!  Didn't know Salmos got THAT BIG!  WHOA!
