Black and decker power inverter.
« on: Jan 02, 2007, 06:24 PM »
wow, this thing is bad@$$! It hookes up like nothing, and is ready to go in a few seconds, hooks up to the same battery I use for my electric auger (I have drilled over 50 holes on one charge, drilling holes take practicly no energy from the huge battery. so once I have my holes drilled, I can put my power to other things.

to test it out right now, I put a clamp on lamp with a 25 watt lightbulb (enough to light my shack.) it has been on for about 10 minutes now, and I will keep posting throughout the evening and tell you how long my battery goes. if it goes for long enough, I will try again after I recharge my battery with a 45 or 60 watt bulb and see if it lasts a long time too.

Im starting to think of some nifty things I could run on this bad boy. a mivrowave? radio? I have just bought some attachments for my propane tank to cook on, and I am thinking about buying a neon light to hang below the hole when smelting (is that legal in NH?) My 8X8 is almost done, I'll have it by the end of the week, and hopefuly somewhere to put it soon.

~Neal

P.S. 15 minutes since the light has been on

it's been going for about an hour and fifteen minutes, once I have my holes drilled, I dont need juice for the auger. but it might have juice left for somehting else. the lightbulb hasnt flickerd or gotten dull or nothin. goin strong guys! and by the way, its silent, I have to hold it next my ear and be very quiet in order to here anything at all.

I cant seem to find any pictures of it, but no, it is not meant for starting up a car, it is meant specificly for taking a 12 volt battery and allowing you to plug in things that require more than 12 volts to function. it has some wires/clamps that hook up to a 12 volt battery, and a plug right on a little box.

Oh i think i know what you have its small and turns 12 volts dc into 110 volt ac so you can just plug an television into it if you wanted? Is the light still lit??
Now i know why you said it runs off your auger battery(which i would like to have instead of my gas auger) you should try to run the auger after awhile and see if there is enough juice to still run it.

The light is still going, not a single flicker, nothing on the battery or inverter is warm. I think it will run for several hours. I'm going to bed, and dont want top leave the stuff on. but I'll post one last time a little later and tell you how it's going.

well, it's a deep cycle trolling battery from everstart, I use it for my trolling motor. I eventualy gave up after 6-7 hours and decided it had more then enough power to last me a night of smelting.

um, the 200 watt was around 35 dollars I think, and I belive the 400 watt was closer to 50 and the 700 watt around 75. in my oppinions it was worth it. could come in handy during power outages as well, or for camping or whatever.
