I posted a question on Jan 9th with no responses. Things must be really good or really bad out there! Lol. As cold as it's been I'd have to think vehicles are getting out by now at least in some areas. Gonna be quiet out there today....looks like some pretty nasty winds......

Seen what appeared to be trucks out there today....looked like 3 of them. Not sure I'd be yet. Thanks butcher!

With the games over, I haven't read about anybody going through. Going to try it myself this weekend. I'll report then.

Hoping to make the trip up to Okoboji from SE Iowa the weekend of the 17th. How is the ice holding up through this warmup? I looked at some webcams yesterday and it appeared folks were out with pickups. I hope to be able to walk out here in about 10 days. Any insight is appreciated.

We fished West and Spirit on Saturday. The ice was holding on but starting to get weak at the shoreline. I didn't see any trucks on the ice on any IGL's (thank God). A few quads and side by sides, but most were walking on. If it cools off in the next week you just might be alright on the 17th. Water clarity was 20+ on West, and about 10 on Spirit.

The Rotary car fell through on Smiths Bay West Okoboji today. For those that don’t know, It’s a stripped car with no engine or fluids used by the rescue departments for recovery. It’s placed on the bay every year as a fundraiser and you can buy guesses for date and time when it falls through. It weighs about as much as a side by side. It is the earliest it has ever gone through. The ice is crap folks. Wait for some more cold weather.
