Lake access ...DENIED!
« on: Mar 06, 2012, 11:44 AM »
It is going to be tough to get on any lakes in central AB for at least 2 weeks if you don't have a snow machine. Hopefully the sun melts it down to where we can drive on again.
Hell, if I'd jumped on all the dames I'm supposed to have jumped on, I'd have had no time to go fishing.

Better be sooner than that, don't most lakes close on the 15th?

I'm with WM!  You guys are talking like sissies.  I'll be out at Wilsons on Gull on Saturday. I'll post back.  I'm not taking the sled either.

Yeah, last year was tough going even with a snowmobile!

You might want to bring the sled as a back-up SNAP, we got about a foot of snow last night here in Ponoka, if the wind pushes the snow up on that shore she'll be tough going by truck.
A bad day of fishing beats anything else I'd be doing today.....

No thanks.  With temps of +3, +8 and +9 before I get there, and full sun, there will be little snow to worry about.  It be fine!

Might take more than 3 days, snap. Fair amount of snow on the east side last sunday, but drivable with a 4X4. If they got 20cm it may be not drivable unless you got a great 4X4 and really good tires. Chains????
Gonna get me a 16" Perch this year.

I'm not worried.  Did anyone see what +6 did today alone?  Bye bye snow!

well i made it out there with my ford ranger 4x4 there were about 8 trucks there were all the shantys are, the further you go the worst it gets lots of water under the snow like last year.Nobuddy was making it out if they tried to go north the whites and burbs were both biting well.

I live in Edson so I guess i'm using that as a comparison , we have around 4 ft at this point so no sissy here I have a 4x4 but good luck in that depth espec ially when there is water below. Here's to some intense sun!

if your doing any walking around through the slushy snow watch for holes, the water and snow covers some old holes and you dont see them till your foot is down the hole.

I drive a 2wd Sonoma and I got to my shanty on sylvan saturday without chains. I just followed the path to my next door shanty neighbor. Then I had to shovel a path for my truck for 30 yards and pulled my trailer closer to the path. Getting a 4x4 is on my list of things to do but I'm getting by ok. Last year I just chained up and still showed mother nature who was boss. ;D
