Back Up Plan - Minnesota
« on: Dec 23, 2014, 12:03 PM »
Fellow Iceheads,

My wife and I take annual trip from Christmas thru the new year.
We have always gone to a particular location in Northern Michigan ( for security purposes i have omitted where) and is where we were married on the ice last season.
Due to the weather they are receiving in that area, it is highly possible that it will not be safe ice for us this year  :'(
We are looking into making an alternate location / Plan B if you will.
I know nothing of Minnesota, could some of you provide what area of minnesota is in good shape ice wise?
General locations are fine - looking to save our trip / anniversary
Any other information is helpful.

Thank You

Most places from Garrison north. Check with any of the bait shops & they should be able to hook you up. Most guys here seem to be a bit tight lipped about good fishing lakes. Mil Lacs seem to be busy, as is farm island, cedar, & pickerel. ;)

I live in the UP and our ice is good.  Walleye fishing has been spectacular in my area as well as others.  If up here is what you mean by Northern Michigan pack your bags.  This recent warm spell has ignited a great bite.

Did you really get married out on the ice? Your persuasive power must be beyond belief! :woot: Before I forget, does your wife have a sister? I'm not serious, of course. I've been married since shortly after I was born! :roflmao:DIRTBALL2 ;)2
