Hoofin it

Question for the group. What is the limit for how far you will pack your way in to fish a hole. And how far is your usual hike from the car to your hotspot?

Not that far but down hill at Chain O Lake last year. Me a friend of mine and his kid
were walking down a hill, I think at Norman. Any who, his boy was in front and he made it down with a few slippery moments. I on the other hand got to land on my rear and clatter my buckets and made every one fishing stop and look. But the funniest thing was when it was my friends turn and he slid for about 10 feet before he was laid out on his back. I about pis$#d myself laughing.

well charlie if conditions are right...i can drive back to my "honey hole", get out of the truck and be on the ice 20 feet later...on the other hand, like jimmy said,  if the snow is thick i have to make about a 1/8 mile trek through snow drifts the size of houses...and let me tell you i have done it many times!!!!!!!!!!!!

And what about those guys up north. How nice is it to drive on out to your icehouse. Once, we fished Mille Lacs and in order to open the door to the shanty I had to first close the truck door. Now that's close.

I ice fish a private gravel pit a lot in my neck of the woods, and usually can park only a few yards from where I fish, but the lane to the pond is about a mile, and when the snow starts to drift, the lane doesn't get plowed, and in order to fish my honey hole, I have to hoof it the mile, and as Pimple pointed out, it sucks when the snow is deep.
