I drove over to Plattsburg this morning. South of the causeway is partially frozen over.
North was steaming..Keeler bay has skimmed over halfway to the island. It was not solid
on the edge at Hill Rd access, I checked.  Gaining...

Colchester side of causeway had one fellow on the ice with tip ups between
boat access and duckblinds. Looked like new ice from there to the channel.

Also went to Plattsburg this morning.  There were a few guys out fishing on both the north and south sides of the Champlain Bridge.

Also drove by Missisquoi Bay in Highgate Springs.  It appears to be locked up but no one had been out fishing yet.  I didn't have my gear so couldn't check the ice.

Made the loop through Swanton/Highgate and
down through The Islands today.
There is 6" give or take in Missisquoi Bay and near 4" in every
cove and bay from Carry Bay north !
The ice appears to be good but is slightly soft on top
w/ 3 or 4 inches of snow on it.
I also stopped by Colchester Pond which had 2" of ice w/ about as much snow on it.
The ice there is also soft and may need a couple more cold days to firm up.
If you go out take ice spikes, flotation and even better, take a friend or two !
FISH SAFE !!!
I'll see you out on the ice !

The Carry is frozen out to Block house point about 2-4 inches but be careful with this snow it hides the bad spots, i would gyess if the weather stays as cold as today next sat will be a good day to fish.

Finally got out on the ice today  :woot:!
Temp around 30 degree ,
on and off again rain ,
15 to 25 MPH winds w/ gusts up to 50 :cookoo:,
on 4 inches of good, solid ice In Goose Bay ,
pulling 3 inch perch until we were so wind chapped we could hardly move  :icefish:!....
I couldn't be happier  :roflmao:  !!!

The shoreline is definately getting a bit punky w/ this wind,
but if the forecast is correct, fishin' next weekend won't be a problem   !!!

just called gilly and here's the report:

3-4" of ice, but the shore ice pulled away during our warmup.  cold weather expected the next couple of days  ;D ;D

my guess is accessible by the weekend, but give gilly a call for updates

Leaving in about a half an hour for either Larrabees, Whiteface or, Laphams. Look for a black Avalanche.

Didn't do well at Larrabees this morning either. Skipped Laphams and went to McCuens this afternoon and saw a few fish with only one bite in 1 and 1/2. Then the wind seperated some cracks not far away and figured it was time to check out.

fished Carry bay today--slowish.  a handful of keeper perch and a bunch of dinks.  Thanks to the guy who loaned me his auger since I couldn't get the power auger started.  6-8" of ice and no shortage of people out there.  Shanty goes out next weekend since it was a eeyotch being a bucket fisherman today with that wind.

Does anybody know if the south side of the causeway is fishable yet? Is this spot worth trying for some decent sized Pike? Any other suggestions for Pike spots?
