What do you keep on your snowmobile
« on: Sep 14, 2018, 02:51 PM »
I just got a new, to me, snowmobile for ice fishing. It’s a 1986 Yamaha. It still fires up like a dream and I’m doing some work on it but I’m wondering what other people keep on their sleds for emergency maintenance. A spare belt? A tow rope? What do you think the necessities are?

Pretty basic, a spare drive belt under the hood, a tow rope, and a set of new spark plugs, along with a few basic tools to change spark plugs.

This case fits into a little hollow under the shelter rack...

Spare belt, towing items, wire and TP...

Spare plugs for sled and auger, tools require too...

Owners Manual, don't know the first thing about sleds...

Misc. hardware items for misc. repairs...

A multi-tool and the tool roll that came with the sled, I did add a couple of tools to it also...

Dash bag always has matches, fire starter, towel, snack, and Registration and Insurance Card, required in NY

Tow strap (straps are the best), spare belt, plugs.

Non-sled emergency gear carried separately.  Certain survival items I never go without.

Great thread.  I've been thinking I should step it up a bit.  Bart's kit rocks!  No surprise there.

Bring a shovel just in case you get stuck in slush. Only happened once to us in many trips to Granby :o
