When does it usually happen? Btw, I'm thinking its gonna be a early year for us.
-
If you are talking about the Eastern Idaho get together, sadly, I think the answer is it doesn't usually happen. Here is last year's attempt:

We were scheduled for Jan 27 but we pushed to Feb 10 and then we had that wicked thaw. We had selected Twin Lakes in order to accommodate the folks that don't like trout. I'd love to do Blackfoot or Chesterfield but I am open to other places as before. A January date might be best to have the best chance of ice.
-
I am retired and am available most anytime . I would love to put faces to the names .
-
Lets get something going! I've already been fishing 5 or 6 times, after next weeks coming temps the ice should be good enough for the people scared of the thin stuff.
-
Interested again! If the dates are off weeks, I'll be there!
-
I almost always have saturdays free

OK, when are the "off weeks?"
-
Usually the 2nd and 4th weeks of the month. I work the 1st thru the 8th and the 16th thru the 23rd of every month.

I vote for the 12th. Sportsmans park if its good. Glendale if the bay isnt frozen.
-
Either day should work. I vote Twin lakes. I like the multiple species there.
-
I like the a) Sportsman's Park b) Glendale idea.

It looks like American Falls may workout, I drove by and saw that guy putting his little red metal permi out.

Fished it today, almost enough ice to be comfortable. Fishing was worth it. Iced a few decent perch and a good slime rocket.

No worries. After Christmas we're supposed to get a nice cold snap.

Any more news or updates on this get together?

I vote for 1/12 Sportsman's Park, with Glendale as the backup plan.

Saturday after next. I'll be there. Look for my bbq to be smoking.
-
Sportsmans Park it is. Time?
-
Sunrise is 8:01 a.m. that day. I will be shooting for an early arrival. Anyone familiar with the place please respond or PM me with tips. Probably not a snowmobile place? How steep is the boat ramp?
And a suggestion for a general area to set up or look for the gang? Big Hole looks like a large place.
-
There are two boat ramps , about 300 yards apart . The main ramp is North of the secondary ramp . The parking lot is plowed and very large. I suggest we setup on the south or secondary ramp . Neither ramp is steep . Most everyone is using an ATV or walking out . You could use a snow machine and if we get any more snow . It would be even better for them . There is 1.5 inches of snow on the ice . I am going in the morning and again Saturday . If you have anymore questions I could help with I will try .
-
Thanks! It'll be a new one for me.
-
I wanted to chime in so you guys know that I was interested. The timing of the scheduled outing doesn’t work for me as I am headed back to Minnesota to ice it up back there for a week from the 12th to the 19th. Hope you folks have a great day at Sportsmans and catch a bunch!

So, we should drill and fish near the south ramp?
-
I suggest people fan out 75 to150 yards to fish and then come together at around 1 pm and cook up some lunch . Fish from 8 to 1 . Then have the meet and greet in the parking lot . When we have our family outings on the ice we cook polish Sausage and hot dogs on an open fire . Boil up some chili. And Smores for desert.
-
works for me! i'll fly a jolly roger, if that would help everyone know where to congregate (i don't have an iceshanty flag yet, i should probably fix that oversight)
-
I normally fly a small IS flag and a small militia flag, on 6 foot poles.
-
How many are coming ? I plan on bringing . Hotdogs , Polish Sausage , buns , paper towels . A pan to build the fire in . Hot dog sticks . Mustard and ketchup. If someone could bring some wood for the fire that would be great . If not I will try and find some . Bring some chips and what you want to drink . We can use my atv trailer to setup the food . I will be pulling it with a Silver 4 door Dodge pickup . Lunch in the parking lot between 1pm and 130pm . Please respond so we know how many will be participating. I would like to turn this into an annual thing . It would be nice to put faces to names .

Planning to come. My SUV is in the shop and if it doesn't get done I'll find a way to at least drop in for lunch.
-
They plow the parking lot so you should be good in a car . You can us my gear to fish . I have plenty . We can use my new 10" propane auger . Only used two times . If anyone else would like to get a taste of ice fishing . Let me know I can bring more rods and reels .

I am going to go somewhere else with my brother . Probably Chesterfield . I was hoping for a lot bigger turn out .

Thanks! I just may need that. I will PM you later after I get an idea from the mechanic.

I would far prefer to fish there, but agreed to Sportsman's Park so the guys who like pannies would be more likely to come.
acpchuck can't make it. massNtrash is still in WY. So is this the group?

These are the most active users here in the SE part of the state, as evidenced by our roll call. Certainly a SW gathering at Cascade would be bigger, as we have more active users over there.
I'm still planning to come.
...and I will miss getting a taste of Curt's sausage.
-
I'm still planning on it. Might not make it long, but I'm still planning on meeting.

Shop just called. Looks like I will have my own wheels. Thanks HWS!

So what time are we showing up?
-
So what time are we showing up?
My target will be a lazy 7:30 - 8:00 arrival. I will follow curt's advice in his absence, and set up somewhere off the South ramp, maybe around the other side of that point to the East, depending on the population density (which I understand has been high). I fly two flags as indicated before. I PM'd you my mobile #.
-
dang wish i could make it next year hopefully glad to see it happening good luck tight lines and good friends cant beat that
-
I'll be closer to the 9:30-10:00 mark, if I can find the place. Never been.

Very nice to meet you Steve and Panfish. Had a great time and the boy never got bored. Had a fish on at least every other minute.
-
i had a blast! it was great to meet you guys, and i hope we can do it again soon!
-
This was an excellent day.
I pulled up in the dark and as the guys in the truck next to me got out, I quizzed them about ice depth to see if I should take my snowmobile off the trailer. They were friendly and helpful. I explained I was there to meet some folks and panfisherman13 introduced himself. I spent the day with him and our other buddy I will call Big Mac. Hey some variant of that should be your username here in IS.
After breaking through the edge on my snowmobile and pulling it out with my truck (can't fix stupid), I finally got out on the ice and received a terrific introduction to panfishing (thanks PF13) and had a super fun day catching perch and suckers. I have some video and stuff to post, hopefully I will get to that soon.
Don't worry about the sled. It wasn't in deep, just enough to get the exhaust bubbling. I rode it down the dock and onto the ice right after.
Late in the morning we heard from IrishnId and we agreed to meet up in the parking lot if not before. Irish also turns out to be a really good guy.
We never heard from HWSlave, even though I had sent him my mobile phone #. Slave, I hope we didn't ditch you in any way. We ended up setting up further across the bay than I had planned, and Irish was just North of the ramp. Curt, we missed you.
We all agreed that we should do it again next year, with Irish hosting down at Glendale. I suggest that we gather on-the-ice. Irish can PM a map or instructions of where to set up.
Thanks to you guys for doing this!

Jan 11, 2020?
-
Probably work.
-
So yeah, got there late.
Was already a sea of Eskimo huts, I walked straight off the ramp and started walking looking for a flag I never found so I set up and fished about 100 yards off the opposite bank.
Sounds like you might have been west of me. Fishing was decent anyways. I guess I lost my rod bag out on the ice with my reels in it.
Next time.
