$500 shopping spree at CTO
« on: Dec 08, 2011, 04:07 PM »
All you have to do to have a shot at winning it is enter a fish in our 6th annual season long, statewide ice tournament   ;D

There are a few changes to the tourney this year. In years past, we have relied on the manufactures to donate gear to the tourney. With the economy the way it is, it has been real tough to drum up enough GOOD prizes to support the event. This year we are forced to charge a minimal entry fee... $10 if you enter before Jan 1, $15 after.

This year we have reduced the categories down to 4 species. Perch, crappie, trout and bass. There are no longer minimum length requirements (other than what the state says). There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes in each catogory.  1st pize in each category is a Frabill Outpost hub shanty

Also new this year is the addition of a second Grand Prize drawing!  ;D Every time you enter a fish, you get another entry in the Grand Prize drawing. Enter as many fish as you want... The first drawing is a $500 shopping spree here at Connecticut Outfitters, the second is a Humminbird Flasher.

Details, rules and leader board can be found on our web site.

I think that covers it... Good luck and...
Let the games begin!

Unbelievable! $10 and enter as many legal fish as we like?!!  If we get ice you'll be seeing us weekly!  It'll be nice to catch a first place fish but we'll just be happy working for those grand prizes and even happier if we snag one! ;D  Looks like its gonna be a great tournament!

Economy or not, there's not many local shops that do this kind of thing, let alone the big box stores. The Outpost is a great 1'st prize. Light, quick, fits 2, and you can stand up straight in it. Bought one a couple seasons ago. Well worth a 10 entry fee.

Thanks guys for sponsoring the board, and putting on a great seasonal tourney! Good luck all in the tourney.

I know you are a long way from the shop... We made it easy for our infrequent flyers. You can now register for the tourney over the phone with a credit card  ;)

We've started to get a few entries in the tournament... Just a reminder, there is no limit to how many fish you can enter. It costs you the same to enter your first fish as it does your 50th. EVERY time you enter a fish, you get ANOTHER entry into the 2 grand prize drawings...

Would love to enter the derby but still trying to figure out where there is ice to fish. I have been going to Maine but its getting a little expensive. Where do we have to go to weigh the fish? Is CTO the only place? Hope to start seeing some people on the ice. Good luck to everyone who entered.
If there is a will there is a way, and I am trying to find my way to some ICE!!!!

"where to fish in CT" : Most of the northwest corner still has fishable ice, a friend of ours was on Mashapaug (Northeast) this weekend. I got calls from the ice on Twin and Tyler. ANything that has had 6-7 inches in the past weeks is likely to be still fishable. Goodl uck and stay safe!

There is still time and opportunity (see the recent posts this morning re dogg, colebrook and Tyler). We received a pile of entries today, perch, trout, crappie....remember it doesn't have to be a category winner to win one of the two grand prizes.  Every fish is another chance to win.
