Hecla
« on: Dec 28, 2011, 03:53 PM »
Heading out to hecla grindstone area tomorrow for a day of fishing wondering if anyone knows the ice conditions. We will be travelling by sled for most part. Also if anyone has any pointers as to location. We are gonna try between hecla and black. Around punk and little punk. And maybe to the south point of black island. Any tips or info from my fellow IS comrades would be greatly appreciated. Will post pics and status of the day when we return.
Thanks

I was at Hnausa on Xmas eve, ice was 16 inches and smooth as far as I could see.  I've only fished at the village in Hecla, caught good numbers of perch, but I,ve never explored out from there.  I'd keep an eye on the ice between Hecla and Black Isl., there can be some current in there.  Good luck!
