Title: New Fish Camera
Post by: wirenut45 on Nov 06, 2017, 01:51 PM
my old Fish-id camera finally bit the dust, ,n, i,m in the market for a new one for our trips to MN., N.D. &S.D. i see Marcum has a micro, & so does Aqua Vu. looks like the A.V. has been out for several yrs., Marcum looks to be new this year. anyone tried either one? saw them side-by-side? looking for insights ,n, opinions. both brands are top shelf imo,so i,ll have no problems with either. prolly pick up on black friday or at st. paul ice show. thanks guys. wire

If you choose Aquaview be sure to check the reconditioned units. I bought one three years ago and it's compact so it doesn't take much room in the sled.

Going on my 4th year with my Aqua-Vu AV Micro Plus DVR.  I really like it.  We use it mostly in the shack.

I have two AV Micro units a 5 and a II ...both w/DVR...great for scouting ...adding some anti glare film will help with the glare ..unless Aqua Vu new/ redesign fixed that.

thanks for the insight, guys. i see marcum has direction on theirs, does A.V. ? anyone know. we use cam. up in midwest to scout bottom ,n, look for stuff (structure, fish, lost scoops, etc). don,t use much here in pa., waters too dirty, stained, but we take several trips each winter to the upper midwest, so its an acceptable expense to my boy ,n, i. again , thank you all. wire

Certain model AV units do have temp ...I wouldn't worry to much about temp ...most waters in winter will be a universal 39 deg. My only concern with Marcum units is there DVR format is old/antiquated... most time I angle my camera down 45 deg when scouting...in the hole quick spin look for anything unique mark that hole and move one ...I will start with any hole that I marked first ....if setting up over a hole to watch/record I will either angle the camera up 45 deg with camera on or near bottom to silhouette my jig etc  or level with my bait .
