Just curious about the different average dates for ice-out, and where you think that stands this year? Mid-April average here, and looks like it could go real fast, real soon if the trends don‘t change.

the avg here is usually the end of feb or at latest 1st week in march, this year we got an extra week or 2, ice going fast here. Already started to put away ice gear and start concentrating on upcoming turkey season and open water. ( we still have ice, but very spongy and heard reports of guys going thru)

Early April, sometimes late March. But the river thru town is open and the dugouts around the Hat are open so it will be real early this year.

Could possibly be this w/e here in NEPA, 50-60's & rain next couple days could do us in. Some lakes still have a foot or more, just have to wait & see what the w/e looks like.

Its hard to get an avg. for colorado. some lakes never freeze up, or at least not thick enough to fish. some lakes don't thaw until mid june or even later sometimes.

probably early may this year.  we have 3-4 feet on most of the lakes and unfortunately we are still in a cold spell so it is still making ice.

I usually can fish till the end of March. After that I become scepticle of the safety...Too much moving water and channels begin to open up. I like to be out in the boat before the last day of April.

Safe ice is basically gone here. Total ice out will be in another couple of weeks depending on the temp and any rain we get. I am thinking April 1st or thereabouts...

Well, I was out on Saturday...didn't need the extension for the Jiffy...on that lake, we had a good two feet...this is perfect timing for some nice pike.  Lotwfisher is in the same general vicinity...I plan to have my boat on Rush Bay on my birthday near the end of April.

We'll have ice here for the closure of the general season March 31 and for a bit beyond...trout waters stay open, so Easter weekend could be fun...it all depends on the weather though.

its supposed to be -18 tonite, two hours north of here its going to get down to -25. currently we have around 30-38" of ice on most lakes and no really warm weather in the immediate forecast.  we'll plenty of ice till the northern zone closer on april 15, hopefully all the ice is gone by the trout opener the first weekend in may.

May. Won't be much open in April this year as there is a lot of ice yet. I drilled 21" last thursday.

Sorry to hear that some of you have already packed it in. Seems like the ice went out real quick some places this year, faster than most. Anyway, wishing you a great open-water season ahead and there is always the anticipation for next year. :'(
For those of us enjoying later ice it won’t be long now before the water runs down through the holes and the action gets faster and better. So it’s cleats, picks, and spuds!! ;)
You members way up north like fishermanjake who are still making ice, well… keep those augers tuned, blades sharp, and extensions mounted, and keep on drill-en!! 8)
To all who replied thanks for your standings and Good Luck to ya.

Memorial day weekend (last week in May) should be ice out.  As it looks now....It may be the first week in June!  No snow to speak of and cold March is keeping it around.  Al Gore needs to explain global warming to us one more time. 8)
