Sorry about the second pic being so big, my mistake, I was gonna remove it but I think it gives the tipup more detail.
Yea, it caught a Bass all right , with no problem!
If you ask me I think it has parts that could break,
but otherwise it worked fine and was easy to set up.

Interesting.... but what keeps the spool from freezing up on those "balmy"
subzero degree days????

I've only been using the polar tip ups for about 5 yrs now and like them for ease of use and they seem to hold up really well. It is nice to be able to see the flag holder spinning before you get to the hole as well. Saves having to stare into a black hole trying to see the reel moving or not.

I've seen those on ebay.  I still think the spool will freeze up.  They sure do look nice though.

It works like a Windlass tipup!  The Ice Jiggin Buddy will jig your lure around an inch, were as the Windlass tipup will jig much more, like up to 6 inches or better!

I used the jigging buddy with great success,Must use waterproof line to prevent spool freeze up. I used HT vinyl coated line and had no freeze problems. These tip-up are not cheaply made.My dad who is a old timer even thought they were made the old way (No cheap plastic parts) We did good for bass with a jighead and minnow combo

Yes I would like to see how it works on a really windy day

I had it out on some strong windy days and had no problems. The only thing I had to do was pack legs in snow to hold tipup from blowing away.Never had a wind flag either.

And how the line freezes in the ice.

Use waterproof tip-up line just like with windless (wont freeze to spool) and the jig buddy  comes with a solar hole cover. Not 100% but I give it 85% effective and higher on those sunny days
