Wyoming Bragging Board Rules

All questions or concerns will be addressed by appleye, a long time member of the Shanty. The rules are pretty simple and as follows:

1) All fish to be entered are caught on the ice in the state of Wyoming 2018/2019

2) Any kind of fish allowed. No size requirement

3) To enter include photograph of the fish photographed on the ice outside with the person who caught it. Include a photo of the fish being measured with some sort of measuring device, ruler, tape measure etc. and state the the lake and date fish was caught. Add a short story if you'd like!

4) Have fun!

Prize: Bragging rights until someone catches the next larger fish!

Please post only pics and congratulation comments in this thread to keep it somewhat clutter free. If you have any questions or comments for appleye, please post them in the Wyoming Bragging Question thread. LINK TO THE THREAD

This Northern is from Keyhole reservoir Caught Dec. 9 2018. I was fishing for crappies when a mark appeared above the crappies at about 10' over 30'. I was using a PK predator on 6lb line, took 15 minutes to get to the hole, then I had a 6". Not sure how I managed to get on the ice but I did. Had a gentleman close by take the picture. The photo next to the rod is for reference (forgot a tape measure} At home the rod is 41". I just built the rod a couple weeks ago for crappies and perch. I guess the rod is broke in. It took about 20 minutes to revive the fish but she came back kicking and swam away. Biggest northern I've ever landed in Wyoming or on the ice fishing. Estimated weight it 22 to 23lbs using a length to weight conversion.  ;D

Very nice pike, I don't think it is multiple inches longer than a 41" ice rod. I caught a 43" with a large girth from Keyhole through the ice in 1998. The state record at that time was 23#?oz. Mine was close to 25 pounds according to the formula, I released it. Four days later Mike McCrary? caught the at that time state record a 43" with about a half inch more girth that weighed 26#?oz. Keyhole is an awesome northern pike fishery and yours is a great catch. It was good to see you released it as the only way to get more state record sized fish is to release the bigger fish.

Ok, my friend John’s son semi caught this fish. He was at Healy and fishing with the family. He was looking for a fishery for family fun. I said “go to Healy little perch but always a good chance of a big fish!” Lol, he stated the best kids fishery he has ever seen, loved it.. Next thing he knows his son is reeling in a perch and almost falls into the hole. His first ice fishing trip and boom. Hooks into a tiger!!  He grabs his son and pole. His kid is two years old reeling in a a gumbo perch at the moment and turned into more. Boom!!  First tiger I’ve seen come off the ice in years. Go figure but this is a life time dream, watch your son hook into a fish at two years old and could clam it his, so to my shanty friends it’s time to brag. Alittle

No one left behind.

The annual Boysen ice trip produced some good fish. Slower fishing with lots of lookers, and not many that wanted to bite.

All in all I got a jumbo perch and my first ever crappie out of Boysen.

The Birthday boy also got his birthday walleye!

14 and 15# catfish caught and released about 20 minutes apart this weekend. It was an awesome weekend, buckets full of crappie and perch, a good amount of nice walleye and really just nonstop action all weekend.

I'd rather do it on the ice

They’re usually fairly agressive, these fish were really neutral, they’d only hit it sittin still but they still freight trained it when they decided to hit it
I'd rather do it on the ice
