ANYONE FISHED RATHBUN, YET?  IF SO WHATS THE ICE LIKE? CATCH ANYTHING?

After the rain last week, the lake came up a bit and I imagine it's a bit murky in places. I heard they had been hitting on buckcreek and near atwells. Other than that I can't help you. For some odd reason we never hear anything from or about rathbun till long after the fact like it's supposed to be some super secret fishery. Even the baitshops won't/can't give any reliable info.
My suggestion is to just go! This cold weather has to be making ice. Just drive around the lake till you see people fishing or decent looking ice and start drilling.
In the end, with or without a report, you won't know till you go.
I just wish it wasn't a 2 1/2 hr drive one way for me or I'd be there often.

If you do go, be wise about ice conditions. There is current in some areas.

my brother and i fished honey creek on the 6th, we fished inside the dike from the ramp,all i caught was dinks and not very many of them,what i marked seemed to leave when bait was brought to them,4 inches of ice,we were going to go onto the main bay,crossed dike and drilled hole to find only 2 inches of ice,so we went back and fished the little bay,water was stained,no keepers,road is open to the ramp only,high water ramp still closed.

The 6th was nearly a month ago.
DNR reports say the road to honey creek is closed.
Go figuire.
Even if it's a month old, your info seems more reliable than anything else I've heard or read.

after reading your reply i relised i made a mistake on the date,it was dec 30th, i knew it was wendsday, and loked at the calendar,it's on jan and put down wrong date...

Dang! only 2" on the other side of that dike on wed?

we fished the marina cut a couple days before and there was 5 inches of good ice,caught a couple dink crappies,my brother caught a couple 2 to 3 lb cats.
