Almost lost my Mitchell 8 in 1 pliers today. Had them hanging on a pole and I stood up. Down the hole they went. Luckily they caught on my bobber on a pole I was fishing with and I pulled them out. Left them to the side after that.........

This year being the first year to have a hardside house on a lake, I have lost several things (4 total) down the race-way.  However, with persistent jigging, I have manage to retreive 3 of the four items.  The first was my padlock, the second was a bait bucket with a brick to help sink it.  I actually was able to snag that in 36' of water and bring it to the surface.  The third item that I lost and retrieved was one of my favorite luers (a jighead for lakers) that came untied.  I succuessfully retrieved that while jigging with another large lure.  The only thing I haven't retrieved is another lure that came untied.   I have since replaced it.  I even managed to jig the padlock back to the surface.  Is that cool or what!

This wasn't my loss but it is hilarious that someone went through so much work to retrieve a phone that won't work anymore most likely

My eye. As I was looking down my ice hole my artificial eye popped out and right down the hole. I watched as it fluttered down to the dark depths. $1800.00 for a new one at that time :'(

My gosh I dont think anyone will ever be able to compare to that.  That would be awful.  What do you do to keep that from happening again?

I lost my boot last year.
As I was walking accross the ice an old hole had not frozen over properly and as I stepped on it, through I went!
When I dragged my foot back up I realised the boot had not come with it!
It was a really cold on them toes that day!

I am knocking wood since I can say I have never lost anything important or expensive.

Typically lose split shots, depth sinkers, hooks.

Can say that I almost lost countless jig rods left in the hole to chase a flag.......thank goodness I fish with good guys......we all watch our stuff.
The closest flag up may be the one that is behind you !

In our permanent shanty, we have a list of stuff "What this hole has claimed" Then it proceeds with a list.
2 cell phones
3 poles
heater
lantern
filet knife
There's alot more of stuff, It's just that alot of it isn't mine!
You may call me crazy, but crazy catches fish!

I lost my first item down the hole this year.  :(

I had a set of needlenose pliers that I had in my top pocket, that was still zipped open. They got 'nothing but net', then I saw them sway back and forth two times before they disappeared from view in 15 fow. Thankfully they were purchased at Gander Mountain from the discount bin for only $2.00 ;)

I replaced them with the Long Rapala Needlenose/Forceps combo that have a nice Belt Clip and a velcro cover to keep them where they belong.  :)

LOL I barely found this thread...

Went out and the wife says "You should leave the camera here!" I say nope it's ok, what if I catch a huge fish. So there I am drilling holes and checking them with the Vex. I reached in my pocket to do something and forgot to snap it shut. Knelt down beside the hole to look at the Vex, Sony p93 comes out of my pocket down my thigh, across 8" of hard water and down the hole. :o Needless to stay it's still sitting in 6ft of water waiting for me to fish it out.
