There are loads of reviews here already (do a search)

But I will give my 2 cents anyway...

I got one this year and I love it, it has put me on fish and even when the fish aren't biting it's fun to see them checking out your jig.

It is really sensitive, it can see a plit shot or a tiny jig

I use it with a friend, we'll drill three holes close together and put the showdown in the middle, we can both see our jig and the fish...lots of fun... Pay attention for sales, I got mine from Cabellas with a coupon and rebate (a month ago) for $150 including shipping... I bet by the end of the season you'll see some more deals

I love my Troller, it has really helped me ice more fish this year ! Go to the community Board and click on Equipment and open fishing with electronics, all of the reviews for the Troller are there.

New to me this year as well, caught a lot of fish that I wouldn't have caught without it. I'm using when setting tip up's too now. No more weight sounder, put the bait where the fish are.

The only thing I will say is it interferes with other sonar's if your too close. That's only been a problem once.

If you want to see the showdowns in action check out the In-Fisherman - Tackle trends - Panfish On Ice. Lots of great info and that showdown looks awesome.

Likes: Great display, the white backlight is incredible at night. Love the vertical bar, I like this vs. a color wheel. Plenty of sensitivity settings and noise level to get everything just right. Price!

Dislikes: I wish the range could be set to zoom in on an area. 120 feet is sometimes not enough in some of the deep lakes I fish but for most people that wouldn't be a problem.

IMO: This is a great tool and a great first time flasher. You put the batteries turn it on and you can start fishing right away. If you need some of the more expensive features such as zoom and 250foot fishfinder range you won't find it. Everything else is as good as any other top model flashers. Most name brand flashers work great, its hard to go wrong.

This was also my first season with a flasher and I love my Showdown Troller.  It definitely put me on fish like never before.  Often times I would drill 5-10 holes and hop around looking for fish.  If after 20 or so minutes nothing shows, move and repeat.  Previous seasons on my area's overfished lakes, I would be lucky to catch 3 fish per day.  This year I have had 30 fish days.  I have to say, when you're screen lights up, it is very exciting to try to get the fish to bite.  On the other hand, it can be frustrating if they won't bite anything you show them- I never had to deal with that before.

One additional note.  If you use it with the six AA batteries, the unit starts to act funny when the batteries get a low.  Carry extra batteries just in case.

I've had mine a few years now, and although I've had issues that required sending it back for repairs, they are good at covering the repairs under warranty.
Most recently I had issues with it staying on, only to realize that, being the dummy that I was, I thought it was another system failure. It turned out that the 12v battery I was using was old and wasn't holding a charge, so the unit kept shutting off (D'oh!)

Now with a new battery (and fresh AA batteries as backup) it hasn't acted up in weeks of use!

It will boil down to what style of fish finder you prefer...bar graph or circle graph.

Whichever style you choose, you will REALLY love having it!!!

I really like my regular showdown. I am still on my first battery, after a number of years.... (probably just jinxed myself),
I am a big fan of the vertical graph too., I don't see any real advantages of the troller model,  over the regular showdown,, IMO, but that's just my preference. But my showdown has been a real good unit for me....

If you want to be cheap, buy it, and it will more or less get the job done.  My advice would be to pay a little more $ up front, buy a vexilar, and avoid repair bills, shipping costs, and poor customer service.  And have more detail under the ice.  just my 2 cents.
