Title: Turn over
Post by: aaron21x2 on Mar 02, 2009, 08:51 AM
Any body else noticing really dirty water conditions? I noticed in LBDN the clarity has gone from 15-20 feet in the bluewater area to about 8. Got a buddy who fished Gene's pond on Sat. and he said the same. Just wondering if we are getting turnover.

on KB its the brand new 6-10" of snow cover doing it I would guess (with willingness to bet some cash)

We didn't get the big snowfall down here. only about 4-5. The wind we had blew the fresh snow into drifts or down to green bay so light isn't the problem here.

Any thoughts on this, plankton_vision?

Listen to superior_cisco. He knows what he is talking about. Turn-over would only happen if there are strong winds, open water, and near isothermic conditions. KB has more ice cover now, and more snow on that ice. Inland lakes have been completely frozen over for some time now.

hmm... it sounds to me that the sysmaferic conditions are a bit extreme, you might have to move to different location, such as downstate or other region.

Aaron, I fish the bay frequently and I've also noticed the murky water the last couple weeks. North is much more discolored than south, probley because of the mud flats north of the narrows. What I have noticed is that the current is raging and changes direction every 30 minutes to and hour in both the upper and lower bays. I noticed pretty dirty water by the mouth of the esky too, lotta water pouriong into the bay there right now too. Just a wild guess, but ya I've noticed it too. Only a few days left, good fishin.
