Early bird crappie on Crawford
« on: Jan 20, 2018, 12:49 PM »
I convinced my wife to get up early enough to get to Crawford by six this morning. On the ice fishing at 6:30, found the crappie in our usual spot, fished little glow green jigs with waxies in 28 fow and had a dozen by 7 then 12 more by 7:30. The crowd showed up about then and the bite went south except for some perch. Left at 9 when the breeze increased and had a great breakfast in Crawford on the way home. Quality morning, Great!! Sunrise.

We were there around 7 am also. We are on a cat fish hunt. I caught 2 yesterday and the wife said she wanted to go back today and catch her one. Well, she caught 2 today and I got the skunk. Funny how some pictures look like you took them.

Good to see you're still giving the fish a run for their money, Jerry. Nice report and pics.

Thanks, Todd. I retired to a different full time job, hope to go 3 days a week this summer. Need more Fishing/Hunting time! Are you still in the tropics?

Yup still enjoying the warm weather, big downside is the good fishing is all over on the Pacific side.

Thanks Bigbass, Todd and Johnny.  If you ever get over here in January, I can meet you there at the dam and get you started. Lake will get soft edges pretty quick now and crappie get tight lipped, have to get really small jigs with two spikes to keep catching. But my buddy caught ten nice perch on Friday so there is always that. I caught 6 slimmers too but didn’t want to admit that, Lol.
