Lots of ice in Monroe Co.
« on: Dec 18, 2005, 03:05 PM »
Fished Stillwater Lake (Monroe County) with a few buddies this morning... had about 5" of solid black ice with another 2-3" of honeycomb on top. Beautiful morning with calm conditions, partly sunny skies, and yemp's ranging from 17-24 degrees. In fact we joked that it was TOO nice as the fishing left much to be desired. I think "holes drilled" outnumbered "fish caught" by about 4:1. No keepers this morning either... nearly all were dink perch with some resembling "bait" as opposed to panfish.  :D

It felt good to shake out the "newly modified" sled and gear and get our 05/06 ice season underway though... better days are coming!

**PS... I didn't post this in the reports column as Stillwater is a "fee" lake.**
