Chumming.
« on: Dec 14, 2008, 05:28 PM »
I am going to put out a permanent shanty this winter. I hope to catch a mixed bag, trout perch and burbot. Since I will be leaving the house in one place what do you-all think about devoting one hole to burbot and dropping all my fish guts down that hole. I am kind of hesitant because it seems like whenever I've dumped guts down a hole before, it killed the hole.

no..... from everythign ive heard (im not an expert but have been reserchign them allot lately) is that burbot like fresh bait.  its fine if its dead, but it needs to be fresh.

if this is true (it seems to be very well agreed upon) fish guts will be no good.

often people think that they will eat like a catfish.  just because they may look ugly, they are absolutly NOTHING like a catfish.

hope this helps.
