1) Nail burbot to a tree by the lip
2) Cut around base of head and around front of body
3) Separate the skin from the meat enough to get a handhold
4) Pull skin off the flesh right down to the tail. Should pull off pretty easy once you get it going.
5) Fillet off the meat!
Piece of cake

Even as I speak, Sweetie (my Husband), who has never cleaned a burbot before is working on one...he is using killitand grillits
method from  "Extensive burbot cleaning..." thread...no nailing, no skinning, and he is not having any problem at all.  He has also
ended up with some great looking fillets and back meat, just as pictured.  This is a real experiment, as he caught the burbot by
accident while we were fishing for lakers...and we decided to give it a try.

MeadowPikeman...Sweetie cleaned that fish in less time than it takes to fillet a pike and take out the y-bones!
No nailing heads, no skinning...again, he used the alternative method posted by killitandgrillit.  It will also be the first time
we have eaten burbot...we are having it tomorrow night for dinner.  Any ideas?

small chunks boiled and dipped in garlic butter......or a very light batter and deep fried is actually quite delicate....IMHO the best method to bring out the true taste....Grump

Sounds good...I think we are going to go with the battered and fried, with a big bowl of thick, home-fried potatos, and beer...company is coming to watch the hockey game, and this seems like the best way to serve it.

All of those who recommended burbot, helped with teaching us how to prepare and cook it....THANKS!!  Had it for dinner last night, and
we now have it on our "favorite fish list".  Battered and deep fried...was excellent!
