Burbot fishing
« on: Dec 16, 2005, 10:19 PM »
What is everyone favorate way to fish for burbot, with a jigging rod or tip-up?
Whats your favorate bait or lure?
Are lures that rattle like buckshot rattle spoon effective? :-\

For myself I like to fish with both setlines and jigging.
For both I like to use a smelt a few inches off the bottom or jig with a lead head and bait. :)

1. Live Minnow on a Tip-Up just before dusk, 1-5 feet off the bottom in 50 FOW.
2. Smelly dead minnow on a Tip-up with a Glow jighead, just before dusk and an hour after, same depth and distance as 1.
3. Glow in the Dark Buckshot spoon, hologram peeled off, tipped with a minnow head, bounced off the bottom.

We also call them Mariah, I'm not entirely sure how they got the name but they have been called that in my area since I can remember.
