Interesting. Where did you see this, could not find it when searching? Thank you.

If you dig enough on the internet, you can find anything. They are also coming out with new Surface and Battle suits, at least in different colors. A 40v battery adapter with USB ports and magnetic auger cap for the lite flite.

Looks like Otter is dropping all their new stuff next tuesday the 19th. Hopefully they bring something new to the table instead of just a color change to the material.
-
ICAST is next week also ...I have seen some stuff "out there" but nothing ice fishing related ..mostly lures and soft water items.

Looks like Otter launched their new products this morning... some real ground breaking innovation... New line of Vortex pro hubs that look pretty similar to another company, some year we'll maybe see something actually new from someone, but I guess we can't expect it every year. Seems like one company comes out with something new, and it takes a couple years for the others to copy it and then its another year or two before we see something different.

Watched a teaser video on the new ION Alpha series augers. I'm interested to see what that's about!

The "pro" model drill plate, laughable. Year 7 or 8 trying to get it right SMH.
Wonder what will go wrong with this one. In all seriousness though, I hope this is the last year of having to hear about people issues with these.

they finally got that spring return on there after we've all been modding them that way since they came out. the plate is the only clam item i will ever own.

New Predator “Lite” bibs from Striker, not sure if there is a matching jacket or just bibs. 40g of insulation, so maybe less for ice fishing and more late fall in the boat(?)

Its listed under the ice gear/suits ..its looks to be a nice early/late ice option w/40 g of insulation..I like that the side panel has elastic...unlike the SI Trekker bibs w/60g insulation ..I did not see a matching jacket ..most folks dont wear a jacket in general and specificly late/early ice are sporing light weight hoodies or a soft shells .

I'm not one to buy a jacket or shelter with a giant bearded head printed on it. Can't see any female wanting that either, imo.

I agree with that, even worse on the ice suit is the lettering all over it. I think just the orange color combo is enough that people will know who makes it. They used to sell Nordic Legend gas augers and popups at Menards, looked OK for the price, but no one I know would buy one because of the goofy looking logos, I don't think I've ever seen any of their stuff on the ice locally. Surprising, since on their website they offer a whopping 17 different models of ice shelter, and most don't look too bad with the smaller logos.

Never seen them locally either here in MN where they are based, but I feel like a saw them at an ice show once or something. But I might be imagining that. Every so often I see them trying to push the brand Hard on social media.

I got the Paragon and 44L last year. I’m needing something that handles my 5-6mm tungsten a little better than the 44L.
Any opinions on which way to go? 44UL or 44 Noodle?

I think the 44UL would easily handle the 5-6mm jigs. The biggest I use is 4mm but mostly 3mm.
When I was deciding between the Noodle and the UL, I contacted them with the questions I had. I would suggest you do that. They were a big help to me in my decision.

I won't go 40" but definitely will be grabbing one of the new odysseys at one of the ice shows here in MN.

Yup. One of the questions I asked as well. And because I rarely fish water over 20' feet deep, I opted for the UL.
-

That is a very odd response considering that in deeper water a glass rod is less capable of delivering the proper jigging technique to quiver the jig. Furthermore it also has that loss of hook setting on point when especially gentle and precise hook setting is required on some of the softer bites.
It is still scenario specific because the mid winter doldrums when the fish are barely inhaling lures does call for a noodle action while waiting for the fish kissing the lures. Looking for that 1/2" or so slow tip movement that a responsive graphite tip won't give.
-
For sure seeing the influx of lighter weight rod designs of all tennessee handles and titanium recoil wire ring guide frames. New player to me, Della Bay customs ice rods.
Looks to be on par with similar price point ice rods.

Their 42" Noodle is an UL with Fast tip...the 44" UL has an Extra Fast tip. 🤷♂️

I have the 42 Noodle and love it for 4-5mm tungsten, I have the 44-LF for small spoons and small rippin raps.
The Odyseyy 40 Noodle is almost identical to the 42 Noodle in action.
Love these rods.

Solutions for problems that don’t exist. 🤷
My eyes do have a problem when tying on hooks and lures. But I wouldn't resort to using that tool.
The battery adapter to connect and reduce tool batteries to 12v is a great idea but it's not for sale on their website. They only list the knot tool.

I thought you guys that are doing the track sleds without lights would enjoy this one, going out at dark thirty like we do. To get the HOT hole lol;) For you
old dogs like me where you need a little more light to tie a knot. It was an awesome find. HH

Best new thing out there hands down IMO is the new magnet Blade cover for the lite-flight augers. Factory one blows and the cold snap one I have always hated with a passion. This new cover fits like a glove and is solid.

Just for cooking on your grill comes to mind ..keeping the wind off of your outside fire pit/barrel .

Well I guess I picked up the 13 Fishing Snitch Pro 32" to play with this year. Had to be the 32" so I can give it a better comparison to the Beaver Dam glass noodle 32".
Well first thing first is the dismal short spaced stripper guide. Still at 8.5" from the reel stem isn't too bad, could be worse. If it were spaced to 10.5" it would be a far better product. I don't expect too much tip bounce but will see for sure once it hooks up a few fish. The updated evolve reel seat is wonderful solid. Bare rod weighs in 1.99 oz. compared to the Beaver Dam at 2.33 oz. The micro tip guides are well typical of a Snitch.
-
Eurotackle has the V2 darter. They no longer have their original 2" darter lure.
There are some changes as the V2 now has a little tail wing so it's kind of like a Jigging Rap lure now. Comes in three sizes.
Micro : 1" - 1/16 oz
#5 : 2" - 1/4 oz
#7: 2.75" - 3/4oz
-
Those Darters look really fishy.....
-
Eurotackle lures always looks great, but they haven't hit the hot lure of the day for me yet.
I've already have a half dozen different variations of Jigging Raps from other makers, so no hurry to get the Eurotackle version. Although having both split ring attached trebles is kind of nice.
I would've wished they would've expanded on their original darter into more sizes, especially smaller version like a 1" length.
-
Has anyone seen the Clam Pinhead Minnow 1/32oz size yet? I love tiny jigging spoons, so they sound amazing to me!

I checked them out in Sioux Falls at the Ice Institute. Pretty impressive detail for such a small spoon. I bought a few of them the other day.

Best new thing out there hands down IMO is the new magnet Blade cover for the lite-flight augers. Factory one blows and the cold snap one I have always hated with a passion. This new cover fits like a glove and is solid.
What is it like? I've got a 6in laser hand sugar on a drill and have the cold snap on it......if this new one would fit and better I'd switch.
I also ended up getting an Eskimo 8in pistol bit last season and would like a better blade cover for it then the factory one with a bungie.

I saw the magnetic cover for the Ice Auger as well. I'm just gonna glue some magnets into my existing cover to see if that works. I also like the bait pucks from Eagle Claw that have magnets built in to the bottom.

I am eager to get my hands on the magnetic cover from Strikemaster, just haven't found the 8" in stock anywhere other than some fishy looking website. Hoping to catch one at a legitimate retailer soon. Had to patch my Eskimo 450xd last season after catching the inside with the auger when I wasn't being careful.

Really interested in the magnetic cover. I hate my cold snap cover, I thought I was the only one who thought it was a piece of 💩. Heard the iced up podcast talking about it, might have sold me on it now!

Huh… I loved my ColdSnap cover. Zero effort to put on and take off. Asked them to start making one for the the 10” Ion G2 and they acted like they were mad I asked.

I have the new strikemaster cover on my lite flite 8. Magnets are the additional connection points, with two clips being the main. Time will tell but the little I've had it has led me to throw the cold snap in the trash already.

I sliced the original strap with the blade once and had to buy some replacements. Those blades are wicked sharp, got the inside of my shack with them once too. Still looking for one in stock somewhere that doesn't charge $10-15 shipping.

The regular 8" StrikeMaster blade cover with a Berkeley tie wrap installed works perfectly fine for me.

I tried a cord similar to that but just didnt seem to want to stay on ...I have a Pistol Bit that it works on just fine from the factory ..Did you modify you SM lite cover in some way ..that cover is a PITA.
-
No mods it's just the 8" version of the Berkeley cinch tie with a knot holding the ball end fixed in place. The opposite end even has a pull tab.

Thanks ...I see the notch on the ball locks into the SM cover ...my problem is my bungee ball is round w/o a notch to grip the cover ...just slips. The search for the Berkley ones begins today.

St. Croix...
Skandic Ice rods release also two updated baitcasting models of 34" length of which is identical with the Mojo 34" in design. Only with better components for a retail of $110. Impressive build quality but still limited to MH and H power only. Has a precision feel better than what the Mojo offers so lure presentation may be more precise.
There is so much potential for them to make a M and ML power casting rod but still why they don't. No demands and has to be a true custom niche.
