Title: winching on the ice
Post by: osiris on Jan 06, 2013, 06:52 PM
just a heads up if you get stuck on the ice or break through a bit it works to drill 2 holes as far apart as you can and run a chain through them and hook your cable  to that as a winch point.... single line 10,000 winch snubbed out hooked up the shiv to double line and it was working hard but the ice held up and the truck freed up also we piled a bunch of large logs infront of the truck so the winch cable was pulling the front end of the truck up on the ice and foward took 3 1/2 hours but it worked out alright .. the truck will be parked on the shore the rest of this winter also after you pull that hard on the chain its a major pita to pull it free with the truck
