I heard of open water under the bridges the last few days. WNEM has a web camera on their website of the mouth. Didn't see anyone out there today

Makes sense.... I knew it got bad.... River raised a foot.... It's back down now but still about 2-3000 cubic feet per second too fast... I figure by Monday it should have slowed enough to catch fish in between the island and the mouth....

I was just invited on a trip to ice fish Saginaw Bay late next week.  Apparently going with "Mike's Charter Service" and the original plan was to fish Lake Erie but ice shoves / bad conditions have switched the plans to Saginaw Bay.

It's about an 8 hour drive from my home in North Central WI.  Unsure if I'm going to go - a bit nervous to see this post about open water, asking about bring a boat, etc.  Is there safe fishable ice on Saginaw Bay and this thread is just about the mouth of the river or is the overall bay sketchy as far as ice conditions?

Anyone have any experience with "Mikes Charter Service" on the ice?

The open water is on the river. The bay is still frozen with some nice ice shoves and open cracks due to the high winds recently. If you are going with someone with knowledge of the bay it can be fished "safely" although icefishing is never 100% safe.

Get on Michigan-Sportsman.com and go to forum on the Ice Fishing Saginaw bay and river. There is alot more information on ice conditions and the bite.

The Saginaw Bay fishing Facebook page has allot of info on it. Guys are fishing but there are also areas with 1-200yd cracks with open water. If the wind quits it should be looking pretty good in 2 weeks.

I was just out there yesterday afternoon just north of the Zil bridge. Lost of wet snow on top in certain areas. I had good ice 6 or so. But Idk how last night and today’s temps have effected that. I’m going to go out in a little. Hopefully not too sketchy.
Fish are on the bottom, maybe the top.....or somewhere in between.
