All the rain should make for easy walking after it freezes.

The drilled holes out there now, will be a problem for unaware sledders.  The run off of all this water will sure open up the holes and weaken the ice around them.

Pretty sure the tidal rivers ice will go out to sea and have to start all over again.

This could really stink. Had a spot booked for Saturday night and I think it's going to end up getting cancelled.

Still better than death. ;D  Cant imagine the flows right now.  Takes a ton of rain to knock down 2' of snow on the lakes and that's exactly what in did in central Maine.  Crazy crazy weather indeed.

The couple lakes I drive by this morning looked like glare ice.

Varying amounts of water on ice 3" to6" with the top frozen to 1/2" not good for walking a good cold night and it will be supporting with a layer of water between . Best to wait two more days.

I checked 2 ponds this morning and found 12-18 inches of snow over a foot of slush.  20-24 inches of solid ice under the slush.

Yep not good...need to wait for this next cold spell...should be much improved by next weekend. Replace your hooks and a good carb clean on the sled be ready for some snow and fishing in 7 days.

Next weekend won't be any better with 10+ inches of snow forecasted for Tuesday and Wednesday. It's more insulation on top of the slush to keep it from freezing solid.

I found glare ice where my shack is. No slush , there was a layer of ice with water underneath that supported my atv. I did have to re- jack and block up the shanty .

Holes around shack drained off excess water,,,, Areas  with 12 to 20 or more inches of snow with slush on bottom . I have seen a longtrack snowmobile with no trailer Make multiple passes fast with out stopping maybe 5 or six  tracks let it set over night and it freezes up solid to make a solid road  to your fishing location . in a couple of days no slush under the path
