Wool blend with Cabela's polypropylene liner socks. I have found the liner socks to be the biggest difference yet. Your feet stay dry and you don't get that clammy feeling. Since I started using them my feet never get cold.

patagonias, some old Orvis pair, and these blue fleece socks
Fishing is a sport in which thinking is involved it is the covenant between nature and man, mother and son. Through fishing only can we recreate the link that has been tarnished throughout the existence of the modern era of mankind. Fishing is the answer yet people ignore it and consider it a "stupid" thing to do. What do these people do instead? They stare in front of color changing boxes. Is that life? My life is fishin

I've used the ice armour socks with my cabelas inferno's for the pasted two seasons with no issues. I did start out using the bass pro/red head socks and my feet would get cold with my boot/sock combo. It all comes down to personal preference.

My boots are Rocky 1,000 gram. I make sure my boots are at least one size too big then I only wear one pair of cotton over the calf type socks. With a little extra room for a cusion of warm air my feet stay warm all day when most of the day is just sitting. If you have a tight fit your feet will never stay warm.

I dealt with cold feet for years being a carpenter, a few things I learned are ;
No Cotton!
Make sure your boots aren't too tight,
dampness inside your boots is no good! Fresh dry socks in a damp boot doesn't work, Try a boot dryer
 remember; everybody's feet are different! SOME SWEAT SOME DON'T
figure out what works for you!

Do not be fooled by cheap "Wool Blend" socks. Check the back, to make sure they're 50% or higher percentage of wool. I have raynaud's diease, which basically means when it gets cold out, my body cuts a majority of the circulation off to my fingers and toes. My best combination is a loose fitting (sometimes I buy a wide) insulated boot, polypropylene liner sock and thick rag wool socks from Wigwam. Keep the heat off the floor of the truck to prevent sweating. A damp foot is a cold foot

My Son recently graduated Ranger School in the Army.  He and many of his buddies were wearing "Darn Tough" socks made by a company in Vermont.  He said they were GREAT socks and the guys who wore them swore they were the best.  I went to buy some at a local military supply store but got sticker shock when I saw the price at $25 a pair.  My Son said "trust me Dad....they're worth it."   I bought 5 pair and have don't regret it.  They're warm, hold their shape, fit well without being too tight, and seem to hold up to repeated washings.  My only problem is my Wife has a tendency to dry things on high heat to get them done and they shrunk a little; however, I'm used to that and bought them larger than needed so they still fit.  :-)
I'm ordering some more off the internet where they have cheaper prices but I've found a sock I'm happy with.

All good suggestions.   I might add, make sure the boots are good and dry.  That is, buy one of those boot driers that look like two pieces of PVC, etc.  Sometimes boots might feel dry, but even a little dampness and its cold city.  I wear a pair of skinny liners and wool socks.  Dry equals warm.  You must start with a dry boot.
