Any safe ice in NewEngland?  Location and thickness would be great!

It’s going to be a while before that happens…

Check some threads on how to find early ice...

Best bet is up north (northern VT, northern NH or northern Maine) or higher elevation ponds.

Check as you go, etc, etc.

Good luck!

If you don't fall thru it's thick enough! ;)

Dang right!  :roflmao:

Seriously though, a lot of it comes down to experience and a bit of luck. There are some places I will push it and fish 3" with light gear, and some I will not... depends on a lot of factors.

I've gotten wet a few times, and all of those times except one, I knew I stood a fair to middling chance of it... risk vs reward.

Take an empty tackle box, and push it hard so it slides way out on the suspected ice. Later that day, say to yer 275 lb friend, "Look! Someone dropped a full tackle box!" "Go grab it"!    :roflmao:

No, do not do this. Bad idea. Just like the label on plastic fruit centerpieces  "Do not eat".  ;D
