so with the ice melting what would you guys recommend to use to fish for crappies and bluegills on soft water?

Same deal this time of year ice jigs waxies or small minners Tiny bobbers they are going to hit the same as if there was ice the water prob. only gonna change a degree or two so they will still be lathargic. I'm gonna try to hit the ice tom. depends on how much water is on top of it prob. will get wet feet and no fish loll

I see you're from Va.  My girlfriend lives in Eveleth, and I'm coming up over MLK weekend.  Any good, small lakes in the area I should take her to?  She lives across the street from St. Mary's and that's where we'll start, but any advice is appreciated!

Umm.. not a fan of Animal House?  Yep, this sucks!  I've got one trip planned for sure to MN in Feb w/ Brian Brosdahl & a group of other Pipefitters.  I'd like to make a small weekend trip somewhere if time & $ permit, also a permission slip from the warden ( the Mrs)!  Only got out one time around here last year, day after X-mas & the next weekend it was gone!  Not "Ballsy" enough to fish 1 1/2"-2" ice!  Who else has the "Hard Water Jones"

1 1/2 to 2" is good just gotta go where the water is skinny otherwise i feel It's prolly over here If it keeps being 45 there ain't gonna be no ice hafta build me a dock so i can take the boat to the ice shack lol
