The Hot New Jig This Year Will Be?
« on: Dec 07, 2005, 12:32 PM »
OK I want to know from you all what is going to be the hot jig for the year. I myself use Genz pounder jigs in glow pink and chartreuse. I also like to use a black ant. Please tell me your favorites.

They are not new...just new to me...I picked up a Custom Jigs and Spoons Kit and Im really looking forward to watching those Ratso and Shrimpo's in action. looks good...I also like the look of the Genz tails, I dont know if they are new or I just have missed them in the past, but they will be a great addtion to a few jigs

I just ordered some mormyshkas for NISID.  I've heard of these jigs but I've never used them.  Any tips?  The ad says to not add live bait.  I'm thinking they should work good with a spike or two added for flavor.

Hit a lake in SE Wisconsin.  But totally forgot to tie on the mormyshkas.  As for tying on the jig I have a link that may help you in tying these lures. Here's a link.

http://www.markov.baikal.ru/keep/articles/hhf1.html

The reason you don't want to place any bait is that you may decrease the action of the lure.  It may hold true for larger baits so possibly a thin plastic wedge may work.  I guess try different baits and before you immerse the lure into the water check the lures action at the opening of the hole in the water to see how it is affected.

Good luck let us know how they work out!!!!

#10 chartruse ratso, but also like the same lure in the new red color.  Oh and the orange is also quite good, did well with it on the mississippi last year.

WSJ, we must have the same tackle box. Gotta love those #10 ratsos. Gonna tie on a small fly about 10" above the ratso tomorrow. 2 fish at a time.

Just got some tungsten jigs small but weighty for deep presentations.  They wolfram jigs by Friska I believe.
Tried em out before the warm spell and they worked out well.
