Tungsten jig sizes?
« on: Oct 15, 2012, 10:04 AM »
It seems like tungsten jig sizes are all by mm length/hook size and not by weight like most jigs. I wonder why they don't specify the weight in grams? and offer different weights with different hook sizes? Now it looks like a bigger hook size the heaver the weight jig. So if you want a lighter weight with a slightly bigger hook you are screwed.

The little atom jigs are lead / solder. Like Erik said the big wolfram page with all the purrdy colors are the tungstons which I use and like myself. Cant go wrong with gold  ;D

Sure I have painted jigs with nail polish before, it doesn't hold up as well as powder paint but will work.

Some companies do show the weight in grams.  Fiskas does for instance.

2mm 0.2 g
3mm 0.5 g
4mm 1.0 g
5mm 1.8 g
6mm 2.7 g

I love Fiskas!!! 3mm & 4mm!! Buy glow since they are kind of pricey you may as well get the most bang for your buck!!   ;)

It's a fine line between fishing & sitting on the ice like an idiot

Just throwing this out here. Northland fireballs worked awesome for Eyes this season and also have a larger hook for jig size. They aren't tungsten but I was impressed with 1 northland product after all. They also have a killer chartreuse color.

Remember if you do glow paint, to get the best glow you need a white base coat.
