Fished off MDB today!  Prob last time out.  Shore ice was fine.  Had a great time fishing with some old friends and had fun making new ones.  Big thumbs up to Bird21s, whose played a large part over the last four years in the quality of my overall fishing experience.  Ended up with half a pail full today of a selective catch.  Also enjoyed fishing with Perchcommander and his gang today.  Awesome way to end the season.  To those who are considering one last go, fish at your own risk.
Sounds like you had a great day &  a great season. I only got to fish w/bird once this year, maybe next yr. there will be more oppertunity to do so. I hope you're not putting your gear away, there are plenty of places to fish that still has good ice.

The fish are always the bonus.  However, it wasn't looking too promising.  I hear you Ice Wanderer.  One of these days we're going to finally meet up.  As far as the rest of the year is concerned, I'm not sure about the ice fishing part.  I've had plenty of time this year and to be honest the King is my favorite.

Will the barrier in front of Westbrook prevent the smelt run at Westbrook this year? With all of the work being done on the brook it looks impassable to fish at this point. What will DEC do about this?

The King is my favorite also, but w/the ice diminishing rapidly there I've turned to other lakes that still have a lot of ice. I'll fish till I would have to use longer than a 10' plank to get out. ::)

I mentioned it to region 5 fishery's biologist that it may be something to keep a eye on because reports from schroon lake. the brook that goes under bridge in Adirondack has seen very light smelt runs since they have dredged in area but yet smelt populations in schroon are high.

Don't know how it has been recently, but about 3 weeks ago, you couldn't get on the ice there.

The view from Buck Mt. can't be very good.  I owned  Harris Bay Saturday.  9" solid ice with 1" soft on top from last snowfall, compacted down.  Fishing slow but still got close to limit on perch and a bunch of sunfish.  Should be good there until at least next weekend due to cold overnight temps.  C U then.

make sure you go to CVS and get some of those blister bandages  :o    ......  if you haven't been hiking 10 plus miles regularly you will get some blisters and they will be a lifesaver  ;)

yeah deffinitly but im going to wait on the rest of the high peaks for a month or so.. there was 6 ft of snow in some spots were the wind had blown it up... I would say from long lake north its still winter lol probly could still be on the ice up there too. next hike for me will be giant mountain and rocky peak ridge.. then marcy and colden mt.. got a big summer planned.. gonna look up some native trout streams and hike into them as well..

next hike for me will be giant mountain and rocky peak ridge.

give some thought to hiking rocky peak ridge from the parking lot in new russia instead of route 73 .....  it's way longer and a lot more elevation gain but a good chunk of the hike is on an exposed ridge with incredible views

of all the high peaks i have hiked that is my favorite
