rhode island water reports
« on: Jan 29, 2021, 09:30 AM »
Wordens has 4 plus on the eastern cove by the boat launch
Watchaug has an open spot of about 3acres in the middle coves and sheltered has 4+
Meadowbrook had 1 and half yesterday evening and it looked like someone fell through about 60 feet  from shore there was a hole and a trench coming back toward shore
please note I did not go out toward the middle of Wordens or Watchaug please be careful

Any info on the northwest part of the state? I’d rather not try testing in the dark after work

I'll be checking a couple of spots in the northern part of the state tomorrow. We'll see what another 24 hours of these temps brings. I'll post what I find if no one updates in the mean time.

Barber's Pond in South Kingstown is about 50% open water. Long way from being locked up yet.
Went by Worden's too and there may be a few small open spots way out near the middle left of the boat ramp but the rest looks pretty good. Like halfhooked said - be very careful. Hopefully will be ready to go soon.

Bowdish is pretty tight. Have not run out with a spud yet tonight. If I get a moment when packing the truck I'll check and update. Be on Wilsons tomorrow at 6 a.m. Ice Shanty flag will be on the pack basket!

I went with my daughter, we checked out 10 mile river, almost 3 inch, tiny bit open water . Then we went to willet pond smallest in the state, I jumped up and down 190 pounds, lol.. drilled a hole 6 inches...drilled two more 5 inch toward the middle...friggin 2 ft deep, ha.....Cop showed up and told us to get off, said not safe.  I said it 6 inch its safe, made us leave.  not even 3 ft deep.   He said the DEM had not been there yet. Hope to go tomorrow maybe Lincoln we are toward Providence.

DEM does not check ice on RI only in 2 state parks in RI you hunt fish and boat at your risk police are usually acting on the call from someone who lives on the  pond and do not want RI ers to be able to use their RI constitutional right to use its natural resources  ask them to call Christine Dudley at DEM and verify this fact for you

If a regular cop told me to get off 6" of ice because it's not safe I would laugh at him and call DEP. You have rights. I'm not sure about RI, but I know MA and CT have laws to protect sportsmans rights. If you are legally fishing on public waters, you cannot be harrassed for doing so by anyone. Even a police officer.

Buddy of mine just called me and said that there is a tournament going on at Wilsons right now? Don't know about the tourney but they're out on the ice! I'll text him to give me the ice conditions and post when I get them  ;D

I know the DEM checks Lincoln, I went over to the cop after and gave him a piece of my mind, " I support the Blue. this cop was an ass.  I told him it was safe, I said to him you think I would take my daughter on if it wasn`t.     told him I bought bait, and paid for my license , he rolled his window up.  I was not staying long, and I live in that town. Next time I will tell him to get bent.

Anyone know how much snow north and south Kingston got? I’m in Westerly(8”) and the after action snowfall reports have a pretty significant line just East of Charleston where they reported 3.5”
