Shrimpos for crappies
« on: Feb 05, 2004, 03:52 PM »
for me, a small shrimpo in colors white or orange tipped with a wax worm catches a crappie every time one appears on my sonar. Jig them really short, and hold for about 35-40 seconds. The tail is still wiggling for triggering. Great bait :D :D

Anybody else use them?
if anybody from michigan will help me out with the lakes and stuff up here I'd really appreciate it since I'm new to the area.

Yep, those and ratsos.  I prefer the ratsos though but both work great.  I don't tip them with anything unless they are super finicky simply because I think that added bait impairs the action of the tail sometimes.  That isn't very often though.  I rig 2 or 3 in tandem and stick them in the middle of the school when I mark them suspended.  Sometimes get 2 at a time like this.  Also, sometimes I'll rig the shrimpo on the upper jig and a ratso on the bottom, since the shrimpo is a vertical jig anyway.  These things are also great during open water under a float or vertically jigged.
