Power auger help
« on: Aug 29, 2014, 08:27 PM »
So I got skunked outta that Strikemaster auger that I was hoping to get.
So I'm now looking at two eskimo augers and a rapala.

Eskimos are;

barracuda plus 9" 85cc $320
Z71 10" 71cc $425

Rapala
Vortex 8" 33cc $350 new

What I'd really like to have is the Strikemaster with the Honda motor, but their $700 + taxes for a 35cc 8"

So, what do I do?
I know nothing about power augers, but I'm assuming that their pretty much like weed whackers. I want one that I know will start first pull every time!

Have you looked at any of the jiffy pro 4 's . I know they are a little more money than you are looking to spend but they are a great auger . I got my pro 4 last year and used it all season and started on the first or second pull every time . I did have a gas line break that made it leak all the propane out one day but a call to jiffy and the sent the parts out to fix it the same day I called them . I know if I had to buy another gas auger today I would be buying a jiffy pro 4 for sure .
